One of the questions I get on a regular basis is why am I running? It's a relevant question, and for me, it's a very simple three-part answer. I believe everyone is able to contribute, the link between prosperity and safety should always be kept in mind, and when we work together, we accomplish much.
In the heart of America, particularly in Nebraska, the value of community and hard work is understood as part of our heritage. This understanding is something passed down through generations, from those who have farmed our lands to those who have built our cities, contributing to our nation's prosperity in myriad ways. It's this spirit of contribution that I grew up with, observing my dad work tirelessly at our sheriff’s department and serve as a city councilman in Johnson, AR. My grandmother, too, has been a beacon of service, contributing to her church, the Daughters of the Revolution, and leading many knitting and sewing classes. This lineage of service, tracing back to the American Revolution, underscores my belief in the impact of individual contributions on our community's success.
The idea that everyone has a role to play in enhancing the fabric of our community is a powerful one. From my family's history, I've learned that the success of a community is significantly influenced by its members' willingness to give back and support one another. This ethos of mutual support is what I aim to foster in our discussions about governance and community development.
Moreover, the interconnection between safety and prosperity cannot be overstated. A community that is safe is one where prosperity can flourish. Diversity and the collective effort of various perspectives enrich our community, but these can only make a meaningful impact in an environment where people feel secure. As such, supporting our law enforcement and emergency service members with the highest levels of training is imperative. Ensuring safety is not merely about maintaining order; it's about creating a space where every community member can pursue their aspirations freely.
The notion that "Alone We Can Do So Little; Together We Can Do So Much," as Helen Keller once said, is particularly pertinent to our efforts in governance. The county board should be a forum for cooperation and progress, not partisan standoffs. My commitment is to engage with all aspects of our county's governance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. A key part of this endeavor will be to address fiscal responsibility, aiming to alleviate the tax burden on our residents and ensure judicious use of our resources.
My vision for Lancaster county is one of continued prosperity, safety, and community engagement. It's about more than just fulfilling the duties of a county board member; it's about championing the values that have long been the foundation of our community's strength. With a commitment to hard work, collaboration, and prudent governance, we can overcome the challenges ahead and secure a prosperous future for all.
As your county board member, my promise is to tirelessly advocate for the principles that have, and will continue to, make Lancaster county an exceptional place to call home. It's about embracing the opportunities that lie ahead, leveraging our collective strengths, and working together to forge a path that honors our shared heritage while innovating for the future. Together, we have the power to continue shaping Lancaster county into a beacon of hope, prosperity, and unwavering community spirit right here in the heart of Nebraska.
